About Us

Shop Sensory is a shopping website curated by two moms.  We share neat things we come across while shopping, researching, talking to other moms and talking to our kids’ doctors.  As we learn more, we’ll keep the resources and blogroll updated.  Drop us a line at shopsensory@gmail.com if you have must-read websites, blogs or other resources you’d like us to share.

While we focus primarily on toys and tools for kids with Sensory Processing Disorder, we also touch on resources related to special needs.

Maria is a freelance writer and designer who spends a lot of time spazzing out on various social media sites.  She writes at Mommy Melee.  As the parent of a preschooler with Sensory Integration Disorder, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) and pragmatic language and social skills deficits, she’s learned that there’s no “one size fits all” approach to a child’s special needs. She believes in the power of occupational therapy, cookies and a good book in the bath tub.

Laurin is a recovering lawyer working on her second career as a freelance writer. She is the mother to seven-year-old twins and writes at LaurinEvans.com. She has been seeking therapies and products to assist her son since he was diagnosed at the age of three with Sensory Processing Disorder and Dyspraxia, a fine-motor delay. Some made a difference (Interactive Metronome), and some not so much (weighted belt), but along the way she’s learned to try, try again to find ways to help her amazing son be his very best.
